Transpelmo Route

The ring-route starts from Pècol, in the upper part of the Val di Zoldo. The intense and spectacular 19,5km track is not to be underestimated both for the type of terrain and for the distribution of gradients.
After the 1st km on fast terrain, the first 450m D+ of single-track in the woods commences. The route then continues at high altitude on the wide path 742, crossing vast pastures and expanses of mountain pines, alternating with slight descents and slight climbs, to the Venezia Mountain Refuge, where the second refreshment point is available. At this point, the challenging climb of the Flaibani path with 600m D+ begins. Passing over a first mountain pass, equipped on short stretches with fixed ropes, you reach a steep and demanding scree and finally the panoramic Val d’Arcia mountain pass (m.2475). Here the second refreshment point will be set up (liquid only). The descent takes place on the opposite side. Initially the terrain is very technical and then continues along the long and fast scree below 1000m of the looming northern face. Here, the descent specialists can make the difference. More technical sections alternate with the rapid descent of the path 742 which leads to the Staulanza pass, the third refreshment stop. Here forth, after passing a short but selective 100m D+ drop, the final phase of the race begins, with the last few kilometers downhill through the woods, which will lead first to Palafavera and then to the arrival of Pècol.

Who aspires beyond performance, to experience the location, will be fascinated by the spectacular views that are offered throughout the 360° of the valleys and the Dolomite peaks. The Pelmo, due to its particular shape, reminiscent of a gigantic seat, is defined by the locals as the Caregon del Padreterno, the throne of God. Legend has it that God, after the creation of the Dolomites, sat down exhausted on the Pelmo, to admire his work of art.
